POLICY & GOVERNMENT
President Joe Biden's recent executive order on artificial intelligence aims toenhance accountability in the development and deployment of AI technology.Industry leaders recognize AI's potential in healthcare for faster diagnosis, precisetreatments, drug development, and alleviating documentation challenges fordoctors. However, concerns persist about the current lack of regulations in the AIindustry, prompting the need for essential regulations to address issues likeprivacy, security, safety, and equity, as emphasized in the executive order.

Cercle, a new A.I. company focusing on women'shealthcare, has launched its Biomedical Graphplatform, utilizing A.I. to transform billions of deidentified biomedical and genomics data points intostructured insights for researchers and healthcareproviders. The platform, the first of its kind, addressesthe challenge of analyzing up to 80% of unstructuredmedical data. Partnering with Eurofins Genoma and USFertility, Cercle aims to enhance in vitro fertilizationoutcomes and success rates while addressing the datagap in women's healthcare, with plans to expandsupport across various women's health verticals.

PROSTATE CANCER
According to a retrospective study published inEuropean Urology Open Science, an A.I. deep learningmodel was found to be more effective in predictingnegative margins and focal treatment margins inresected prostate cancer specimens than conventionalmodels. The A.I.-derived margins produced a meansensitivity of 96.9% compared to 37.4% for conventionalProstate Imaging Reporting and Data System regions ofinterest (ROI). Additionally, the A.I. model was moreeffective in reducing the extent of missed clinicallysignificant prostate cancer.

CLINICAL DECISION MAKING
Hims & Hers Health, Inc. has launched a new technologycalled MedMatch which leverages millions ofanonymized data points from millions of customers inreal-time. MedMatch is initially being deployed forcustomers seeking support for anxiety and depression. The technology is designed to help providers identifythe optimal treatment for a particular person byrecommending clinical decisions and treatmentsinformed by the collective knowledge of thousands ofproviders and millions of data points.

WOMEN’S HEALTH
Royal Philips has received anadditional $44.6 million fromthe Bill and Melinda GatesFoundation, bringing totalfunding to $60 million for theglobal deployment of its AIenabled Lumify Ultrasound System. Initially granted$15.4 million in 2021, Philips developed the A.I. to aidfrontline health workers in identifying pregnancycomplications, particularly in underservedcommunities, with a successful trial conducted inKenya. The new funding aims to expand globaladoption

CARDIOLOGY
To address the challenge of early misdiagnosis inprogressive diseases like pulmonary hypertension(PH) and cardiac amyloidosis, Johnson & Johnsoncollaborates with Anumana, Mayo Clinic, UltromicsLtd., and Atman Health to develop A.I. algorithms. These algorithms, integrated into the clinicalworkflow, analyze common diagnostic tests(electrocardiograms for PH and echocardiogramsfor cardiac amyloidosis) to detect subtle indicatorsinvisible to the naked eye. Both the PH and cardiac amyloidosis algorithms havereceived Breakthrough Device Designation from the U.S. FDA, potentially enablingearlier and more accurate diagnoses for timely patient treatment.
